There is no 20 year life cycle for pilot or skydivers parachutes -there's none!,

The life limit from the manufacturer is the first 120 days, after that the Parachute Rigger that repacks the parachute  is responsible  for the next 120 day life, in other words it is up to the Parachute Rigger (just like your annual inspection by your A&P mechanic for your aircraft), to inspect, test if necessary, and  re-certify airworthy and pack or don't pack.

NO WHERE is there anything in writing, any studies, manufacture's instructions or FAA Regulations for any emergency parachute life cycle

(except for one...the GQ Security  parachutes manufactured in Great Brittan, it states in their manual a service life of 15 years for the canopy and harness)
